Sant Cugat del Vallès low-emission zone (ZBE): rules, labels & fines
Sant Cugat's low emission zone (about 4 km² of the town centre) has been active since 1 May 2021. Vehicles without a DGT environmental label may not drive in it on working days from 07:00 to 20:00. Fines have applied to cars and motorcycles since 1 November 2021 and to vans, trucks and buses since 1 May 2022; large trucks in the Can Magí industrial estate became finable from 1 May 2026. Foreign vehicles must register with the AMB metropolitan register. Whether the zone was suspended during the early-2026 Rodalies crisis was not confirmed.

Official mapNotes: Ordinance: initial approval 18 May 2020; definitive approval 15 Mar 2021; published BOP Barcelona 13 Apr 2021 (CVE 202110052513). The ordinance sets sanctions 6 months after publication and 1 year for N1-N3/M2-M3; the municipal page gives 1 Nov 2021 and 1 May 2022, used here. A July 2024 ZBE project document (adaptation to RD 1052/2022) keeps the same area, hours and unlabelled-only restriction; it defers a ban on B-label vehicles to a review in about three years, but says the ordinance must consider restricting B-label vehicles during NO2 pollution episodes from 1 Jan 2026. No amended ordinance was found. Not verified: (1) whether Sant Cugat suspended its ZBE during the Jan–Mar 2026 Rodalies crisis — the AMB/zbe.barcelona notice on the end of the suspension names only the ZBE Rondes de Barcelona, and the municipal ZBE page does not mention any suspension; (2) any TSJC ruling on this ordinance — none found, but court databases and press could not be searched (web search budget exhausted), so judicial status is 'unknown'. 'fines_issued' reflects the active sanction regime stated by the council; fine volumes not verified.
