Santa Cruz de Tenerife low-emission zone (ZBE): rules, labels & fines

Santa Cruz de Tenerife definitively approved its ZBE ordinance on 24 July 2026 (BOP no. 101, 24 August 2026); it enters into force 15 business days after publication. Inside the central perimeter, Monday–Saturday 07:00–20:00, only mopeds, bicycles, PMVs and vehicles with 0, ECO, C or B labels have free access; unlabelled vehicles need to be registered under an exemption. The operating rules apply 18 months after entry into force (informative notices from then) and fines of €200 only after 36 months, i.e. around 2029. An earlier mobility ordinance's environmental access articles were suspended by the TSJC in 2024.

Notes: The BOP text (no. 101, 24 Aug 2026) was read from a PDF copy hosted by the Colegio de Arquitectos de Gran Canaria; the official BOP site URL was not located. Entry into force is 15 business days after publication (about mid-September 2026; exact date not stated). Restrictions are effectively deferred: operating regime after 18 months, fines after 36 months. The new ordinance has no known court challenge; earlier, the TSJC provisionally suspended environmental-access articles of the 2024 mobility ordinance (press).
